I love the original Digimon Digi-Battle card game. I first thought of building a site like this back in late 2019, I was always flipping through pages in my card folder looking at card art, comparing stats and reading their descriptions. It was during this time I thought it would be cool (and more convenient) to do all that digitally.
Storing the information of every card in a database also allows us to perform really simple searches that would otherwise be a real pain to figure out.
So, for example, if I wanted to see all cards that were Digimon with battle type Red that had special ability "Fly" then I can easily see that.
Or if I wanted to see the strongest attacks in the game and who uses them I can do that too.
Building an entirely new platform for this was also a good opportunity to get higher quality scans for (almost) all cards. You might notice that some cards have dings or fraying edges, this is simply because I'm scanning my own copies of cards and that is the best condition copy I have. You may also question why some of the card PNGs have slight white borders, this is because I was removing the card backgrounds manually with GIMP and didn't have the patience to do this perfectly for ~300 cards.
tl;dr; scans aren't perfect but are good enough I think.
I know the Digi-Battle card game gets a lot of criticism, especially when compared to Japan's Hyper Colosseum Digimon Card Game, but Digi-Battle will always be special to me. This website is for everyone to look back and remember a game that's brought joy to many people over the years.
I hope you enjoy!
